Shortly after her one-month birthday, Charlotte was sent to the IWK where she was diagnosed with two heart conditions. She underwent urgent surgery to help repair her heart function. Her parents credit Charlotte’s personality and determination for helping them get through this tough time.

After feeling very unwell last year, Cooper was referred to the IWK Health Centre where he was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease.
After experiencing frequent headaches and blurry vision, Alyssa was diagnosed with a tumour on her brain stem that required a complex surgery. The support of her school and the IWK's Child Life team helped give her strength as she began her IWK journey.
As the air ambulance approached the IWK, Lori had faith that her unborn baby daughter was going to be okay.
Pregnant with her first child, Lori went to her local hospital after experiencing abnormal bleeding. She was then sent to the IWK for emergency care.
“We moved into the IWK on Mother’s Day 2018,” said Randa, mom to one-year old Siena. That was the day she and her partner Dean learned their baby girl had cancer.
